Configuring Apple device enrollment with Apple DEP involves configuring applicable settings in Apple Business Manager (ABM) and also in KACE Cloud. This is typically a one-time configuration if you set up everything to happen automatically.
If you have no previous experience with Apple DEP, see About the Apple Device Enrollment Program.
The following procedure summarize the steps for enrolling your Apple devices in to KACE Cloud with Apple DEP:
- Link KACE Cloud with Apple DEP.
Link your KACE Cloud subscription with one or more MDM servers in ABM and exchange the security keys that make the two configurations aware of each other. See detailed instructions here.
- Assign target Apple devices to Apple MDM servers.
An organization's Apple account has details about the devices purchased from Apple or authorized resellers. When you log in to ABM, you can use that information to associate the devices you want to start managing with desired MDM servers. See detailed instructions here.
- Assign KACE Cloud DEP profiles to target Apple devices.
The first step in configuring DEP devices in KACE Cloud is to create a DEP profile. DEP profiles control the activation process of the device. A DEP profile must be assigned to the device before it is activated. See detailed instructions here.
- Activate managed Apple devices.
To complete an Apple device enrollment in KACE Cloud with Apple DEP, the device must be activated. This can be done by turning on the device, or resetting the device to factory defaults. See additional information here.
- Review the DEP profile status of managed Apple devices.
You can find the DEP profile status of a managed Apple device enrolled in to KACE Cloud with Apple DEP in Device Details. See detailed instructions here.
